OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I spotted this kitten clutching onto this tree with all its strength, and I assumed it had just climbed up there for fun and was now stuck. This tree has a very hard bark, and it was clearly very difficult for this kitten to hold on. I was amused by its predicament, and I started snapping some pictures. Then, suddenly, the kitten slipped and fell …

Blind Woman Begging in Cebu

A blind woman begs for money on a traffic island in downtown Cebu. This woman is at this spot regularly. She can’t see if anyone is standing near her, of course, so she simply holds out her hand at all times and moves slightly in the direction of sounds that she hears. I’ve noticed that she gets a lot more money given to her than …

I also had to purchase a small tube of degreaser to mix with water to …

Internet cafe in Cebu City. They charge 10 to 12 pesos per hour, which is about twenty-five cents US. It’s one of the more pleasant places I’m stumbled across, though there is very little elbow room and when the young gamers storm in, things can get a tad annoying.

They say that print media is dying, but you can’t prove that by me in the Philippines. There seem to be lots of thriving newspapers. From what I’ve read, they may or may not provide actual accurate news, but there is a lot to choose from

Super Typhoon Yolanda Destruction in Tacloban

February 8, 2014 – 11:21 am
Three houses still standing but largely destroyed by super typhoon Yolanda.

These photos were all taken in and around the city of Tacloban on the island of Leyte in the Philippines nearly two months after super typhoon Yolanda struck on November 8, 2013. By this point, much of the debris had been removed from the shoreline communities and streets and people had begun rebuilding their homes and communities. The houses along the shoreline were a mixture …
