Day 42 Super Typhoon Yolanda – Body Retrieval in Anibong
Thursday December 19, 2013
Day 43 Typhoon Yolanda
Not proofed
– Went to fire station at 6:45 to see off the American firefighters, but they were already gone; they’d left at four in the morning to make sure of catching their c-130 to Manila
– – dropped by Hayward to have coffee and ended up having a breakfast of porridge with Manny and his wife; I liked the porridge, but it had bits of bony chicken in it, and I dislike having to fuss with bones, so I didn’t eat a second helping; Manny’s wife now believes I don’t like porridge.
– – met an American doctor and nurse at Hayward; they are part of a Baptist medical relief team; hoped to go with them to their work today, but I didn’t manage it.
– – grabbed my camera and walked over to Anibong to see about taking some pictures; wasn’t inspired; ran into a BFP body retrieval team and watched them work for an hour or so, then left
– – started to rain heavily and I was stuck taking shelter under an overhanging roof for over an hour; then had lunch at that place Houkou; only had rice, a menudo, and a veggie dish and a beer and it came to 205 pesos.
– – returned to the pension house and have been resting ever since; no energy for anything
